6:17 pm
within 120 miles, so the surf was rough during the course of the week and after the storm departed. i would expect, wednesday even thursday down the the the shore the surf will be fairly rough. we will talk about that coming up. we have to talk about the heat as well. we made it to 90 degrees today, first time this month and i don't think we will see much of that over the course of the next several days, even the next couple of weeks. take a look outside we are looking at a beautiful afternoon down the shore, cleve was in atlantic city. a few miles south in ocean city with a great beach day but stay away from the water, when those beaches are not guarded. right now those guards are off, duty. we are looking at dry conditions, that will persist throughout the evening but we could see a spotty sprinkle. today's high was 90 degrees, the 15th time that has happened this season but the average number of 90-degree days in philadelphia, is 23. will we make that it far? i don't know. that is a big question, it is looking like we will get
6:18 pm
cooler around here. on storm scan 3a few scattered sprinkles popping up with a line of showers and thunderstorms. some of these may make it through late tonight in the form of the scattered shower but more potential tomorrow afternoon. right now in philadelphia 87, same in trenton. eighty-two millville. atlantic city at the boardwalk we have been looking at temperatures around 80 degrees. >> same at the airport. we have a few spotty showers popping up and then this line moving east, and fading by 11:00 o'clock a line of a few spotty showers are possible, in philadelphia. then we will watch this frontal boundary from the north and west moving on through with another chance of showers and storms during the afternoon on wednesday with highs in the 80's. after that high pressure builds in, air is dryer, it is less humid, much more comfortable conditions with high temperatures in the 80's and that weather sticks around for friday even into the day on saturday and next chance of a isolated shower will be on sunday. lets talk about bertha, right now the storm is hundreds of miles away, and it is moving
6:19 pm
toward north east, guided by a stationary frontal boundary. it will continue to impact our weather, however, with dangerous rip currents, so, the threat will continue tonight even through wednesday and do i think thursday, with a moderate to high risk of rip currents up and down the the new jersey shore and for our delaware beaches. all this is happening because bertha is continuing to push water down the shore. the wave heights are increasing and frequency of the waves are increasing. so we have all this water piling in, so fast, it can't come back out that fast so these channels are formed in the form of the a very narrow rip current. how can you spot a rip current down the shore tomorrow? look for a couple of different things. look for a channel of choppy water, different color in the water or a break in the wave pattern. this is something that life guards will be looking for, over the next couple of days. during evening it will be partly cloudy chance of shower late towards 11:00, low of seven 16789 for your wednesday a afternoon shower
